Cheltenham high school trainer held in student sex assault

An athletic trainer at Cheltenham High school was arrested and charged with sexual assault today after allegedly making "unwelcome sexual contact" with a 14-year-old student, authorities said.

An athletic trainer at Cheltenham High school was arrested and charged with sexual assault today after allegedly making "unwelcome sexual contact" with a 14-year-old student, authorities said.

Ramon Cintron allegedly assaulted the girl student in his high school office on April 12, said Risa Vetri Ferman, the Montgomery County district attorney.

Ferman said that Cintron sent the girl several text messages apologizing for his behavior and begged the girl not to tell anyone because he "could get locked up" if anyone found out.

Cintron is not an employee of the school district, said Superintendent Darlene G. Davis, but works for Moss Rehabilitation Center which contracts with the township.

"As a school district, we strive to provide safe learning and social environments for all of our students," Davis said in a statement to Cheltenham parents. "Needless to say, I am deeply saddened and concerned when such environments are compromised. Please know that we will fully support the police in their handling of this matter and will thoroughly support students who have been affected by these events. "

Cintron, who was being held on $100,000 cash bail, is also charged with indecent assault, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful contact with a minor.
