A South Jersey police officer has been suspended without pay after being charged with sexually-assault and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.

Jason Kreig, 31, of the Pemberton Township Police, was arrested Friday in connection with two incidents with a juvenile that allegedly occured in 2007 and 2011, said a spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

The spokesman said the juvenile had been in Kreig's care, but he would not divulge the alleged victim's gender or age.

On Monday, Kreig, a seven-year veteran, faced a judge in Mt. Holly Monday for his first court appearance where a judge ordered him to be held on $300,000 bail.
