I-76 reopen after tanker spill forced its closure

The Schuylkill Expressway is open after being closed westbound from from Vare to University Avenues this morning because of a tanker truck fuel spill.

All lanes westbound on I-76 were shut as PennDOT crews scrambled to put sand down and absorb the spill. The incident caused a major commuter headache as traffic was forced off at Vare Avenue, and 26th Street was also closed.

PennDOT issued an alert about 7:15 a.m. that all lanes had reopened.
