Fatal pedestrian accident closes Roosevelt Blvd.

A 44-year-old woman was killed trying to walk across Roosevelt Boulevard this morning.

The accident happened about 6 a.m. near the intersection with Welsh Road.

She was struck by a Honda Civic heading northbound, and the northbound lanes were closed for about two hours.

The woman, whose name was being withheld pending notification of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The driver did not flee the scene, police said.

The car was badly damaged. The windshield was smashed, and the front of the roof was crumpled.
