Police are asking for the public's help in searching for Jorge Aldea, 23, a suspect in a murder investigation police believe may be connected to the execution-style killing of North Philadelphia store clerk Monday.

Aldea, 23, allegedly shot Louis Chevere, 22, to death in November over a dispute at the corner of Westmoreland and Mutter Streets, police said.

Investigators had interviewed Rosemary Fernandez-Rivera, 33, about the killing, believing she may have witnessed it from her apartment window above the Caribe Mini Market, where she worked the cash register.

Around 7:40 p.m. Monday, a man wearing a ski mask strode into the store, walked past two other employees and shot Fernandez-Rivera four times in the chest.

The suspect fled without saying a word or stealing anything, police said.

Neighbors and family of Fernandez-Rivera, who called her Reina, said she was scared that she would be targeted for having witnessed the November murder.

Police said Aldea is known on the street by his nickname "J Rock," and has a lengthy criminal record for drugs and violence. Police described him as 5'8, 175 pounds, with a tattoo of a star below his left eye.

He is known to frequent the 3200 block of North Kip Street, the 3300 block of North Mascher Street, and the 100 block of West Wishart Street, police said.

Police have not named a suspect in the killing of Fernandez-Rivera, but described the killer as 5'8, 175 pounds, wearing a gray hoodie and black ski mask.

Tipsters should call homicide at (215)686-3334.
