1 week left to enter MLB’s Fan Cave contest

Many guys have a version of a man cave, where they hole up to watch sports with pals, brews, Web access, and grippable grub.

Many guys have a version of a man cave, where they hole up to watch sports with pals, brews, Web access, and grippable grub.

Now supersize that. Make it your whole life for a baseball season, as you attempt to watch all 2,430 major-league games on a huge viewing wall. Add social media and video duties. Throw in visits from famous baseball players - including the Phillies' Ryan Howard - and other celebrities.

That's what awaits up to a half-dozen fans selected to live in Major League Baseball's 2012 Fan Cave.

Last year was different. Just two guys lived in the New York City digs all season.

This year, the chosen ones will also compete in a sort of reality show, with fans evicting Cave men - or women - until one ultimate winner is left.

Think Occupy Baseball meets Survivor - with visits from stars.

Among other scheduled luminaries: the Phillies' Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence; Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander; Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp; Rays third baseman Evan Longoria; and Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia.

What the eventual winner gets - other than personal glory - apparently hasn't been determined yet, according to the rules.

Anyone who's 21, full of stamina, ready to constantly watch and comment about baseball can enter at www.MLBFanCave.com by Jan. 31. Entrants are asked for a 1,000-word essay, a photo and a video.
