Woman made fake 911 call during motor stop, police say

The female half of a duo pulled over for a traffic stop called 911 with a phony report of a holdup at a nearby Wawa in an attempt to route officers from the scene, according to Gloucester Township police.

Police say events unfolded when they pulled over a car driven by Robert Webb at 11:35 p.m. Monday on Blackwood-Clementon Road for an unspecified reason.

During the stop, Janora Carter, who was sitting in the passenger seat, called 911. She reported that there was a man armed with a shotgun at the Wawa on Little Gloucester Road, police say.

Officers believe Carter made the call to force them to to let the couple go in order to respond to the fane robbery call.

Webb, 28, of Denfield Street, Camden, was arrested for outstanding warrants and hindering apprehension by providing a false name. He was placed in the Camden County jail in lieu of $2,224 bail.

Carter, 25, of Park Boulevard, Camden, was arrested for outstanding warrants. She was charged with placing a false 9-1-1 call and reporting a fictitious incident. She was placed in the Camden county jail in lieu of $1,695 bail.
