Man, 88, shot wife, then self, Bucks authorities say

Authorities have confirmed that the deaths of a husband and wife in Quakertown this morning were the result of a murder-suicide.

Authorities have confirmed that the deaths of a husband and wife in Quakertown this morning were the result of a murder-suicide.

They were Charles Christine, 88, and Betty Jane Christine, 85, according to Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler.

Their bodies were found by a daughter, who called police about 8:40 a.m. in the J Building of the Quakertown West Apartments in the 400 block of South Ninth Street, Heckler said.

Charles Christine apparently shot his wife in the back of the head, then shot himself, according to police.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Heckler did not know if medical conditions may have motivated the incident.

No further investigation was expected, he added.
