A 22-year-old Cherry Hill man has been arrested and charged in a vandalism spree that caused about $30,000 in damage to cars in Camden County.

Police say Paul Cherfane, of the 400 block of Holly Glen Drive, was behind the attacks in Cherry Hill and nearby communities of Haddon Township and Oaklyn, and, possibly, Collingswood and Audubon.

Cherfane played "windshield baseball" with cars, police say, by driving through local streets and smashing the glass on vehicles with a baseball bat or other type of "battering object."

The vandalism began in August, according to authorities.

Cherry Hill Police Detective Mark Buehler coordinated with other police departments experiencing the same attacks in their communities in investigating the spree.

As a result of that investigation, Cherry Hill Police obtained a search warrant for Cherfane's vehicle and home.

Police say they found physical evidence linking Cherfane to the crimes. He was arrested Friday after surrendering to Cherry Hill Police with his attorney Richard Josselson.

Cherfane was charged by Cherry Hill Police with 14 counts of criminal mischief and one count of conspiracy.

He was charged with eight counts of criminal mischief and one count of conspiracy by Haddon Township Police.

And, he was charged with 12 counts of criminal mischief and one count of conspiracy in Oaklyn.

Police say charges are pending om Audubon and Collingswood.
