Man shot by officer in Mt. Holly

A Mt. Holly police officer responding to a domestic disturbance call shot and wounded a man Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

A Mt. Holly police officer responding to a domestic disturbance call shot and wounded a man Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Joel Bewley, a spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, said the officer responded to the 100 block of Rancocas Road after a call was received about 3:15 p.m.

"One officer fired one shot and hit an adult male," said Bewley, who declined to say where the man was hit or what led to the shooting. The officer's name was not released.

Neighbors told reporters the man was in his backyard when he apparently threatened the female police officer with knife.

Bewley would not elaborate, except to say the man was taken to Helen Fuld Medical Center in Trenton where he was listed in stable condition.
