A 70-year-old man was found dead inside a vacant warehouse that caught fire Monday afternoon in Southwest Philadelphia, a Fire Department spokesman said.
The fire was reported at 1:34 p.m. in the 1500 block of South 49th Street near Paschall Avenue, said Executive Fire Chief Daniel A. Williams. The fire was placed under control at 2:16 p.m.
The man, whose name was not available, was found dead inside the two-story building and possibly may have been a squatter, Williams said. The cause of his death, and of the fire, are under investigation.
