Crash closes N.E. Extension lanes in Montco for 4 hours

A two-truck crash closed southbound lanes of the Pennsylvania's Turnpike Northeast Extension for nearly four hours early today, playing havoc with the morning rush hour.

A two-truck crash closed southbound lanes of the Pennsylvania's Turnpike Northeast Extension for nearly four hours early today, playing havoc with the morning rush hour.

A box truck and a tractor-trailer collided after 4 a.m. at milepost 27.5, south of the Lansdale interchange, officials said.

The toll road's two southbound lanes were closed until just before 8 a.m. when crews finished removing the damaged trucks and clearing the roadway of wreckage and spilled cargo.

During the closure of the roadway, southbound vehicles were being directed off the Turnpike at the Lansdale interchange, snarling traffic through the area as motorists made their way to Route 309 as an alternate.
