Ex-volunteer charged with sending harassing e-mails

A former volunteer with the Plymouth Community Ambulance Company has been charged with faking a series of e-mails that accused two employees of homosexual sex acts in the ambulance building.

Kelli Thomasen, 39, of Lansdale, is charged with dozens of counts of stalking and harassment for allegedly sending dozens of e-mails to three people at the ambulance company since April 2009. She rode with the three-station ambulance company as a volunteer from December 2008 to February 2009, court records say.

Thomasen allegedly sent some of the false e-mails under the name of a paramedic, who she wrote was one of the men in the fabricated affair. The paramedic's wife was also e-mailed, under a different name, with tales of the liaisons, prosecutors said.

The e-mails stirred trouble before their falsity was uncovered. State and East Norriton Township police investigated the paramedic in whose name the e-mails were sent before clearing him of harassment complaints lodged by one fellow worker.

After the paramedic was exonerated, authorities tracked to a Verizon account at Thomasen's house e-mails sent in May and June. Thomasen confessed to authorities June 30 that she had sent the e-mails, sometimes using computers at Montgomery County Community College and the Lansdale Public Library to throw off attempts to uncover her identity.

Thomasen waived a hearing Monday and was given $5,000 unsecured bail. She is due in court for a preliminary hearing Friday morning.

Thomasen did not return a call to her home.
