Christie, Rendell meet in Bucks County

New Jersey Gov.-elect Christopher J. Christie and Pennsylvania Gov. Rendell met for about 45 minutes this morning to discuss economic development and how to attract more businesses to the region.

New Jersey Gov.-elect Christopher J. Christie and Pennsylvania Gov. Rendell met for about 45 minutes this morning to discuss economic development and how to attract more businesses to the region.

The two met at AE Polysilicon Corporation in Fairless Hills, Pa., which will produce polysilicone, a material used to make solar panels.

Christie and Rendell said they had many things in common, including backgrounds as prosecutors and winning elections they were expected to lose.

Christie said he looked to Pennsylvania as a model of economic development and that he sought Rendell's advice on how to attract and retain businesses.

"Pennsylvania has created a model" for economic development, Christie said. "We need to learn from people who are doing things well."

Christie said he hopes to make the climate more inviting for businesses in New Jersey, although he declined to offer specifics.
