FBI seeks would-be bank robber

The FBI and Philadelphia police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who tried to rob a bank in Kensington this morning.

The man entered the Bank of America branch at 1841 E. Allegheny Ave. at 11:35 a.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money, officials said.

The man, however, fled empty handed and ran east on Allegheny Avenue.

The would-be robber is described as a white, in his mid 30's, with a thin or skinny build and a closely cropped thin beard and mustache. He was wearing a black knit wool cap, dark sunglasses, a plaid flannel jacket or heavy lined shirt, and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 215-418-4000 or the Philadelphia Police Department.
