Shortly before 9 last night, an 18-year-old died of a bullet wound two blocks from his home in the city's Fairhill section, according to police.

Kwame Brogdon, 18, lived in the 2800 block of North Howard Street, and police, after hearing gunfire, found him outside in the 100 block of West Cambria Street.

Brogdon had been shot once in the head.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:18 p.m.

Police are trying to determine a motive and possible suspects.

The homicide was the 257th this year, 30 fewer than last year through Nov. 3. The count in 2007 was 339 through the same date.
