Ballgirl wannabes have until Friday to apply to make the 2010 squad.
Last year, during the Phillies' playoff run, about 1,600 resumes were submitted - a thousand more than the year before.
Although one gentleman in his 70s took a shot, only females 18 and older are eligible for these part-time gigs - and only 120 were invited last year to November's hitting, fielding and throwing tests.
Hitting? Yes, because the Phillies ballgirls don't just scoop up fouls, they play charity softball games.
Out of 25 invited to a final interview, nine got the nod to join this year's squad, which included 10 returnees.
Beside softball experience, the Phillies are looking for good communication skills, a knowledge of baseball, and a flexible schedule that permits working at all kinds of hours and on weekends and holidays.
"You almost have to be a college softball player and be a communications major or a PR major," said Michele DeVicaris, the Phillies events coordinator who oversees the squad.
Besides a resume, applicants must present a photograph and two-minute video discussing qualifications.
The resume can be submitted via mail, e-mail or online application.
The video can be handled separately, as an e-mail attachment, as a link to a video posted online, or as a mailed DVD. Please indicate in note with resume if video's coming separately.
Mail (must be postmarked by Friday): The Phillies, Citizens Bank Park, One Citizens Bank Way, Philadelphia, PA 19148. Write on envelope "Attn: Ballperson Applicant."
E-mail: mdevicaris@phillies.com.
