Lottery underway for Phillies playoff tix

If you're not a season ticket holder, you have basically one shot to get playoff tickets from the Phillies:

An online lottery called the "Postseason Ticket Opportunity."

You don't actually win tickets.

You win the right to buy tickets.

The signup started Sept. 1 and the first phase lasts until noon on Sept. 16 at Phillies.com. Click on "tickets," then "Postseason Ticket Opportunity."

That deadline ends the chance to get into first-round games at Citizens Bank Park.

After Sept. 16, registration will continue for home League Championship and World Series games.

Winners will be notified by email of their chance to buy up to three tickets to one specified game.

"This registration will be the only method of public distribution for 2009 postseason tickets," according to a Phillies news release.

The Phillies haven't said exactly how many tickets will be made available.

Fans can already buy postseason tickets through such resellers as StubHub.com, where asking prices range from $95 for first-round matchups to $7,995 for one World Series ticket.

For a shot at seeing a road playoff game, fans can also enter the lotteries of possible playoff opponents, such as the St. Louis Cardinals, the San Francisco Giants, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies.
