A former science teacher at a Catholic elementary school on the Main Line was sentenced today to 10 years in prison for possessing child pornography on two laptop computers, one of which belonged to the school.
Jerome Bennett III, 46, had taught at St. Monica School in Berwyn for eight years before his arrest last August at his Haverford home.
Bennett pleaded guilty in April to two counts of receipt and possession of child pornography.
Investigators seized Bennett's computers, two external hard drives and two flash drives in May 2006. At the time of his arrest, prosecutors said there were no pictures of St. Monica students among the pornography.
U.S. District Judge Mary A. McLaughlin also sentenced Bennett to 15 years of supervised release following his prison term and ordered that he pay a $2,500 fine.
