Former swim-club director accused of embezzlement

The former aquatics director of a Delaware County swim club was arrested today for allegedly embezzling $112,219 from the club's bank accounts.

The former aquatics director of a Delaware County swim club was arrested today for allegedly embezzling $112,219 from the club's bank accounts.

Jose Sotillo, 33, of Pottstown, was charged with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing from the Suburban Swim Center in Newtown Square.

Sotillo is charged with writing a series of checks made out to "Cash," himself, and his Internet marketing business, JB International L.L.C. He made the withdrawals between March 2007 and December 2008, authorities said. The arrest was announced at a news conference at the Delaware County Courthouse.

The Suburban Swim Center is the home of the Suburban Seahawks Club, which owns the facility. Olympic champion Brendan Hansen, who grew up in Havertown, trained at the club.
