The Camden County prosecutor's office is seeking nurses to assist rape victims and police investigating sexual assaults.

Candidates for the required 64-hour training must be a state-licensed registered nurse in good standing for at least two years. On completion of the course, he or she may file for forensic nurse certification with the state Board of Nursing and apply to work as a paid part-time Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE).

Sexual assault nurses respond to hospitals where victims have reported assaults and are part of a team that includes law enforcement officers and victims' services representatives.

Additional nurses are needed due to caseload demands and attrition, according to a statement from the prosecutor's office.

For information, call Francina Pendergrass, Camden County SANE coordinator, at 856-365-3111.   -    Inquirer staff
