Delaware County is going to the dogs.

Delaware County is going to the dogs.

The county will introduce its first park for pet pooches this afternoon at 1 p.m. at Kent Park in Upper Darby.

The Dog Park features a fenced area where owners can let their mutts off the leash to run, play and socialize with other hounds and their owners.

Located near the Lindbergh Bridge in the 3900 block of Bridge Street off Baltimore Pike, the park officially opens Aug. 1. Parking is available.

Owners must register their pets at either the Upper Darby Municipal building at 100 Garrett Rd., the dog license office in the County Government Center at 201 W. Front St. in Media, or the park office at Rose Tree Park on 1671 N. Providence Rd. in Media. Once registered, they will receive a key to the fence gate. All dogs must have a current license.
