Woman sexually assaulted on Cobbs Creek Golf Course

Police are looking for a suspect in a sexual assault on the Cobbs Creek Golf Course in West Philadelphia.

Police are looking for a suspect in a sexual assault on a West Philadelphia golf course early Saturday.

A woman, 26, was walking to work south on Cardington Road, through the Cobbs Creek Golf Course, around 3:30 a.m., when she saw a man walking toward her on the opposite side of the street, police said.

The man passed the woman, switched directions, and approached her from behind, according to investigators. He allegedly dragged her onto a golf green and sexually assaulted her behind a cluster of trees before running north on Cardington, toward Haverford Avenue.

Police described the suspect as a 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5-inch tall, clean-shaven Hispanic male in his mid-30s with a muscular build and close-cut dark hair.

There was no indication Saturday afternoon that he was linked to a pattern of similar attacks, police said.

Anyone with information was urged to call 911 or to submit an anonymous tip by dialing 215-686-TIPS (8477).
