Flood advisory issued for much of region

A flood advisory has been issued for Philadelphia and the surrounding area as heavy rains drench the region.

The National Weather Service said about an inch of rain has fallen already and another inch is possible.

The flood advisory is in effect until 3:30 p.m. The advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. Motorists are advised not to drive into standing water on roadways.

Flooding in Camden, in the meantime, forced NJ Transit to suspend RiverLine service between the Walter Rand Transportation Center and the Waterfront Entertainment Complex/

Showers are expected through Saturday before easing off on Saturday night or early Sunday.
