Truck crashes into Hymie's deli

A truck crashed into a popular Main Line deli this morning, completely shattering the business' front window.

The crash happened at Hymie's Merion Deli, located at 342 Montgomery Ave. in Merion, at about 6 a.m.

Television news footage showed that a red pickup truck slammed into the deli's storefront. The footage shows the front window smashed-in, and employees cleaning up broken glass, furniture and other debris.

Police had no immediate information on what led to the crash.

Workers were in the deli at the time, according to TV news reports, but were not harmed. The truck driver was reportedly taken from the scene in an ambulance.

Some lanes of Montgomery Avenue between Old Lancaster Road and Parsons were closed while authorities responded to the scene.
