One person was critically wounded and two others injured by gunfire at North Front Street just south of West Allegheny Avenue in the Fairhill section of North Philadelphia shortly before 12:30 p.m., police confirmed.
Officers on the scene are now looking for surveillance cameras in the area, which has been cordoned off for several blocks along North Front Street. According to officers in radio reports, the shooting took place in front of a barber shop just north of the intersection of North Front and Clearfield streets.
A city police spokeswoman had few details, but said one person was in critical condition and two others were in stable condition at nearby hospitals following a 12:25 p.m. shooting. An initial police report listed the victims as Hispanic men who are being held by police at Temple University Hospital. One victim, 22, was shot multiple times in the head and shoulder. A 34-year-old was shot multiple times in the chest and back and another 22-year-old was shot at least once in the shoulder.
According to the radio reports, a high-powered rifle was used and has not been found yet. The report also said three blocks of North Front Street, from Clearfield Street to West Allegheny Avenue were closed off by investigators.
Later radio reports have indicated that two people wanted in connection with the shooting drove away from the scene north on Front Street in a black four-door Mazda 3 with a sunroof and tinted windows.
