A man is accused of robbing a Wells Fargo bank branch in Society Hill Friday with an explosive threat.

Investigators said the man shortly before 12:30 p.m. walked into the bank on Second Street near Pine Street, handed over a demand note and threatened the teller with a bomb. The cashier surrendered an undisclosed amount of currency, but apparently the suspect wasn't satisfied with the spoils. He also allegedly assaulted and robbed an elderly female customer before running away with the loot. The woman sustained minor injuries to her lip and knee but declined medical attention.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8-inch tall white male in his mid- to late-30s with a brown beard and mustache. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket, blue jeans, light-colored gloves and a burgundy baseball cap with an unknown logo.

Anyone with information on the suspect or crime is asked to contact the FBI/PPD Violent Crimes Task Force at 215-418-4000, or to submit an anonymous tip by dialing 215-686-TIPS (8477) or texting PPD TIP (773847). Authorities said there may be a reward for information leading to the man's arrest.
