SEPTA trolley tunnel reopens in Center City

SEPTA's trolley tunnel in Center City, which had been closed since the beginning of August, has reopened.

The tunnel reopened early this morning.

Trolleys on routes 10, 11, 13, 34 and 36 are now running normally.

The closure, which SEPTA said was necessary so work could be done on multiple improvement projects at the same time, went into effect on Aug. 1.

Work that was slated to be done during the closure included: installing new rail, replacing track switches, cleaning, replacing overhead wire and support materials, testing emergency lighting cables and signal maintenance.
