SEPTA bus detours on Parkway, in North Philadelphia this weekend

A number of SEPTA bus routes will be detoured for extended time periods this weekend due to various events around the city.

On Friday, Routes 17, 33 and 48 will be detoured around the 300 block of Market Street from 4:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the transit agency said. Nite Owl buses operating between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. will also be affected.

Then, on Saturday, Routes 2, 7, 32, 33, 38, 43 and 48 will face detours near the Benjamin Franklin Parkway due to the Festival of India. Those detours are set to be in affect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

On Sunday, Routes 2, 7, 32, 33, 38, 43 and 48 will be detoured around the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for the Puerto Rican Day parade starting at 9 a.m.

Later Sunday, Routes 39, 47, 54, 56, 57, 60 and 89 will face detours due to street closures for other Puerto Rican Day events in North Philadelphia, SEPTA said.

A number of streets in North Philadelphia, especially between Front and 7th streets and Susquehanna and Hunting Park avenues, will be affected, so SEPTA is advising riders to consider taking the Market-Frankford line instead of buses.

The North Philadelphia detours are expected to last from about 3 p.m. to midnight.
