Robber wields hypodermic needle at Center City Dunkin' Donuts

Philadelphia police are looking for the man who robbed a Center City Dunkin' Donuts while wielding a hypodermic needle.

Police said the incident happened just before 7 a.m. Saturday, when the suspect demanded that two female workers at the Dunkin' Donuts at 808 Chestnut St. open the cash register.

The assailant grabbed one of the women by the arm, and threatened to stab her with the needle if she didn't open the register or if she tried to call police.

The man struggled with the employees and eventually opened the cash register.

Surveillance video of the incident released this morning shows the man grabbing cash and fleeing. Authorities didn't say how much money he took.

The robber was last seen heading east on Chestnut Street.

The Dunkin' Donuts workers weren't injured.

The man was described as white, about 30 years old and 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with logos on the front and back, black Adidas sweatpants with white stripes on the sides, and bright yellow or green sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-8477 (TIPS) or send a text message to 773847 (PPDTIP).
