Road closures, detours in Philly this weekend

A number of big events are prompting road closures and traffic and public transportation detours throughout Philadelphia this weekend.

Here's what you need to know about getting around the city.

For Friday:

- The 200 block of South 12th Street will be closed for a Philadelphia Pride kickoff party from 5 p.m. to midnight, prompting SEPTA's Route 23 bus to be detoured.

For Saturday:

- A section of Kelly Drive will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the Schuylkill Navy Regatta. Motorists will be detoured between the Strawberry Mansion Bridge to Fountain Green Drive.

- Various blocks will be closed for festivals and parties, including: Susquehanna Avenue between Broad and 21st streets from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., 9th Street between Carpenter and Christian streets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Willow Grove Avenue between Traymore Avenue and Southampton Avenue from 3:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and 2nd Street between South and Lombard streets from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Those events will cause detours for bus routes 39, 47M, 40 and 3 on Saturday.

- Lincoln Drive will be closed between Wissahickon Avenue and Ridge Avenue/Kelly Drive from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Streets Department maintenance work. The road will be closed to cars, bicyclists and pedestrians.

- The Islamic Cultural Parade and Festival will lead to some road closures from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.: Market Street between 6th and Front streets and Front Street between Market and Chestnut streets.

For Sunday:

- The Benjamin Franklin Bridge will be closed to vehicles from 5:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. due to the American Cancer Bike A Thon. PATCO service and the bridge's pedestrian walkway will not be affected.

In Philadelphia, the bike event will also cause SEPTA buses 38, 44 and 48 to be detoured from 4:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Fifth Street will be closed between Market and Race streets during that time.

- The Philly Pride Parade and festival and a Flag Day celebration will lead to multiple street closures in Center City: the 500 block of Chestnut Street, Locust Street between 13th and 7th streets, 7th Street between Locust and Market streets and Market Street between 7th Street and Penn's Landing.

SEPTA said bus routes 9, 21, 38 and 42 would be detoured from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. due to the Flag Day event on Chestnut Street. Those four routes, as well as the 5, 12, 17, 23, 33, 44, 47, 47M, 48, 57 and 61 buses, will face Pride-related detours from 9 a.m. until at least 3 p.m.

- The ODDyssey Half Marathon will cause a number of street closures: Martin Luther King Drive between the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Falls Bridge from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Lansdowne Drive between Girard Avenue to 41st Street from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., Avenue of the Republic between East Memorial Hall and 41st Street from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., South Concourse Drive between Belmont Avenue and 41st Street from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., the Strawberry Mansion Bridge from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., Ford Road between Chamounix Drive and the Strawberry Mansion Bridge from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., Kelly Drive between Sedgley and Lincoln drives from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Reservoir Drive between Dauphin and Fountain Green drives from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.

SEPTA's 38 bus will be detoured from 7 a.m. to noon due to the race.

- South Street will be closed between 21st and 24th streets from 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. for the Odunde festival, as will 23rd Street between Bainbridge and Lombard streets. Those closures are leading to detours for the 7, 12 and 40 buses.

- Bus routes 38 and 43 will be detoured around Eakins Oval due to the Strides for Stroke 5k race.
