A man trying to break into a West Philadelphia house was shot and critically wounded by one of the home's residents this morning.
Philadelphia police said the incident happened just before 7 a.m. at a home on the 3700 block of Brandywine Street.
A resident shot the 22-year-old man, whose name was not released, during the attempted break in. The man suffered three gunshot wounds to his back and a graze wound to his knee. He was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
It wasn't immediately known how many people were inside the home at the time, and no other details about the shooter were available.
Police were questioning two men about the incident.
The residence is near the campuses of Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania.
