A recent party thrown at a Perkasie town pool reportedly hosted by Cleveland Cavaliers guard and Philadelphia native Dion Waiters was supposed to draw 100 people.

More than 700 came.

Worse, say residents, according to two media reports, they used booze, and plenty of it, at the Menlo Aquatics Center. Alcohol is a no-no at the borough-owned pool in Bucks County, about 30 miles north of Philadelphia. It's also suspected there was drug use, although there were no arrests. Party-goers allegedly even shoved lifeguards into the pool.

A crowd of angry Perkasie residents packed a borough meeting last night outraged at the private party, and demanded answers as to how the town could have given permission for the event to occur on borough grounds, according to reports on the PhillyBurbs and NBC10 websites.

The party grew so out-of-control that 24 officers from around the area were called by midnight on Aug. 11 to keep the chaos down, according to PhillyBurbs.

But borough officials told the residents at the meeting they were told by a promoter that it was birthday party with 100 attending and that no alcohol would be served. The town is reviewing its policies for rentals at the pool.

The PhillyBurbs reports that the party was a club-style event hosted by Waiters, and featuring a DJ as well as a 15-person security contingent, according to an advertisement for the party. Actually, a South Jersey swim club turned down the party because it did not appear consistent with its policies.

An ad for the event found on Waiter's Twitter feed, shows the "Splash First Class Part II NBA Edition" party was originally set for the Chartwell swim club in the Marlton section of Evesham Township, Burlington County, New Jersey.

The cost was advertised for $40 dollar a ticket.  It was not clear whether Waiters actually attended the party that was eventually held in Perkasie.

The borough is considering some changes to its policies that would disallow private ticket sales, a strict adherence to stated pool times, limit the size of events and request credit card information be submitted prior to an event to cover any damages incurred.

Waiters, 21, will soon begin his second season in the NBA. He was drafted by Cleveland in 2012 with the No. 4 overall pick after two years of college basketball at Syracuse. While there, he was teammates with 76ers rookie Michael Carter-Williams.

Prior to attending Syracuse, Waiters played high school basketball as a junior and senior at Life Center Academy in Burlington, N.J. His freshman and sophomore years were split across three high schools: Bartram, Southern and South Kent School in Connecticut.
