Power surge led to Morey's Pier outage that stranded riders on coaster

Officials say a power surge led to the outage at Morey's Surfside Pier that left some riders stuck on a roller coaster.

A section of the North Wildwood amusement park lost power shortly after 9:15 p.m. Monday, forcing emergency evacuations on 14 rides, including the Great Nor'Easter roller coaster, according to spokeswoman Maggie Warner.

Warner said all riders were taken off the attractions without incident.

Power was restored to the park about 10:30 p.m. Monday, and most rides reopened for the rest of the night.
