Polls open in N.J. and Pa. for Election Day

The polls are open for Election Day.

Polling places in Pennsylvania opened at 7 a.m., while New Jersey's have been open since 6 a.m. Voters in both states can cast their ballots until 8 p.m.

In New Jersey, the General Assembly tops the ballot. Voters will make their picks for all 80 seats in the lower legislative chamber, as well as local offices.

For Pennsylvanians, the marquee statewide race is for the three open seats on the state Supreme Court.

In Philadelphia, the next mayor will be elected. Voters will also make their choices for City Council, with a heated battle for the two at-large seats reserved for members of minority parties.

The most high-profile contest in the suburbs is the race to succeed Risa Vetri Ferman (who is running for a judgeship) as the district attorney in Montgomery County.

You can look up your polling place online at the Pennsylvania Department of State or New Jersey Department of State websites.
