Police warn of bear spotted in Bensalem

Police are warning residents of a bear spotted in Bensalem this morning.

Bensalem police said the animal was seen walking in the area of Edge Avenue and Michael Drive.

The neighborhood is near the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and authorities were monitoring the bear in case it tried to cross the highway. Nearby residents were advised to stay indoors.

However, late this morning police said they had lost sight of the creature but were continuing to watch the area.

People in the neighborhood should cover their trash and grills as precautionary measures.
