Police seek person of interest in beating of man, 77

Police have identified a person of interest in a brutal beating early Friday that left a 77-year-old Hunting Park man in critical condition.

Investigators said 32-year-old Danny Daneil Diaz is wanted for questioning in connection with the assault, which occurred around 12:30 a.m. inside a home on the 700 block of West Butler Street.

The victim was placed in critical condition at Temple University Hospital after suffering severe injuries to his head and face, according to police.

Daneil Diaz, whose address is also listed on the 700 block of West Butler Street, is described as a 5-foot-7-inch tall Hispanic male weighing about 185 pounds.

Police said he’s known to frequent the 200 block of East Indiana Avenue, where a family member lives.
