Camden police seek capri pants-wearing carjacker

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a capri pants-wearing carjacker in East Camden who allegedly commandeered a woman’s car Friday, then used the vehicle to steal gasoline.

Investigators said the victim was sitting inside her car, a gold Lexus RX3, as it was parked on the 3100 block of High Street around 7:30 a.m.

A man, described only as a black male wearing blue capri pants, allegedly approached and pulled the woman from the vehicle. Police said the suspect got into the car and sped away toward Rosedale Avenue.

The Lexus was around 1:30 p.m. involved in the theft of gasoline from a Citgo Station on Admiral Wilson Boulevard, according to investigators.

Camden County police officers found the car four hours later, abandoned on the 100 block of North Dudley Street.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the Camden County Police Department tip line at 856-757-7042.
