Authorities have released more information about a police pursuit Thursday that stretched from Pleasantville, N.J. to Atlantic City and ended with officers shooting one man dead.

Prosecutors said the chase touched off around 12:30 p.m., when the Pleasantville Police Department received two 911 calls reporting a man with a gun at La Escondida II Restaurant on Black Horse Pike.

The man allegedly fled Pleasantville police, driving east on Route 322 through Egg Harbor Township. Police said the suspect crossed into Ventnor, then continued onto Atlantic City.

There, at Missouri and Atlantic avenues, near The Walk outdoor outlet mall, the suspect and police exchanged gunfire, according to investigators. The suspect was struck and died at the scene around 2:20 p.m., police said.

Prosecutors identified the man as 27-year-old Antoquan Watson, of Williamstown. The state medical examiner's office has scheduled Watson's autopsy for Friday morning.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, which investigates all police-involved shootings in Atlantic County, is continuing to review the incident.
