Police have arrested a West Philadelphia man in last month's gun slaying of a West Powelton man.

Munir Pankery, 21, of Locust Street near 60th, was arrested yesterday for murder and related offenses for the Dec. 28 death of Anthony Hinds, 42, of 43rd Street near Fairmount Avenue, said Officer Leeloni Palmiero, a police spokeswoman.

Pankery was shot in the back on Spruce Street near 59th just before 1 a.m., Palmiero said. The motive is listed as unknown.

Pankery is being held without bail and faces a Feb. 22 preliminary hearing. Court records show he has multiple prior arrests for drug and gun offenses, as well as an aggravated assault that occurred one day after Hinds' death.
