Placenta found in alley behind Center City McDonald's

The bloody discovery of a placenta inside a container in the alley behind a fast food joint at 10th and Market streets Monday morning has police searching for its origin, a department spokeswoman said.

The afterbirth was discovered at about 6:30 a.m., police spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little said, but no details beyond that were immediately available.

It was found in an area behind the McDonald's restaurant on the southeast corner of the intersection of 10th and Market streets in Center City, Little said.
