Philly rallies to celebrate gay marriage rulings

Several events in Philadelphia tonight will celebrate the Supreme Court's gay-marriage rulings.

Delaware Valley Americans United says its rally on Independence Mall at 5th and Market streets will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The group says speakers include Wendy Michele Forbes of Philadelphia Family Pride, Jeffrey Jordan of the Metropolitan Community Church of Philadelphia, Janice Rael of Delaware Valley Americans United for Separation of Church and State and Gloria Casarez of the city's Office of LGBT Affairs.

Marriage-equality supporters are encouraged to wear red to the rally.

Equality Forum will host another celebratory event in Center City from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The event will take place at the pop-up park on Broad Street between Spruce and Pine streets, executive director Malcolm Lazin says.
