Pa. teen dies after falling into manure pit

A teen was killed Saturday after becoming trapped in a manure pit during a farming accident in Lancaster County.

A teen was killed Saturday after becoming trapped in a manure pit during a farming accident in Lancaster County.

It happened shortly before 11 a.m. on a farm located at 329 Centerville Rd. in Leacock Township, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

The 15-year-old boy was operating a skid loader when the machine tipped over and fell into the manure pit, according to investigators.

The teen, who was buckled into the equipment, became trapped and suffocated, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's identity was not immediately released. Police are treating his death as an accident.
