Oops. Put that gas nozzle back before driving away

Mayhem in Philly is a doozy.

A fill-up was a major, uh, flub-up on Saturday in Philly.

No, it wasn't one of those mayhem commercials for All State. And, OK, it's not major news.

Think of it more as an object lesson, with photos.

The driver of an SUV proved why it's a smart idea to return the nozzle to the gas pump before driving away.

About 5 a.m., at a BP station at 63d and Chestnut Streets, the SUV, still hooked up, managed to pull down a pump, which apparently caught on fire, judging from the scorch marks visible in photos taken by area resident Otis Morrison.

No one was hurt, and the SUV seems to have survived just fine.

Philadelphia police and fire officials could provide no additional information this morning, and no one answered several calls made to the BP gas station.

Morrison was told by a worker at the scene that the driver ran off and the SUV was later towed away.
