A Philadelphia police officer is under hospital care this morning after he collapsed while chasing a crime suspect in North Philadelphia this morning.

The officer, whose age and name weren't released, possibly suffered a heart attack and now is being evaluated at Temple University Hospital, said Officer Leeloni Palmiero, a police spokesman. He fell ill at 8:30 a.m. while trying to apprehend a suspect at 4th and Diamon, Palmiero said. Police continue hunting for that suspect.

Palmiero didn't yet have details on the officer's condition, nor why police were pursuing the suspect. Check back for updates.
