Off-duty police officer stabbed in Kingsessing

An off-duty Philadelphia police officer was stabbed Friday afternoon during a home invasion in Kingsessing.

Police said a man around 12:45 p.m. broke in through the rear dining room window of a home on the 1000 block of South 54th Street.

Once inside, he allegedly struggled with the officer, stabbing her once in the right arm. The suspect then fled through the home’s front door, according to investigators.

The officer was reportedly able to drive herself to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was placed in stable condition.

Police said a 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the crime, though no weapon was recovered. The suspect’s identity has not yet been released.
