New I-95 ramp in Delaware opens today

There's good news if you're headed to the Delaware beaches over the long Labor Day weekend.

Beach-going motorists should experience much less traffic congestion, as a new exit ramp linking Interstate 95 southbound with Delaware Route 1 opens today, the Delaware Department of Transportation says.

The long-awaited fly-over ramp is expected to ease traffic and cut travel time headed toward the Delaware beaches, Dover and the Christiana Mall.

The old "cattle chute" ramp, which has tied up traffic for years, closed Monday night so workers could put the final touches on the new bridge.
