Mom charged after child left in car at N.E. Philly Walmart

A mother is facing charges for leaving her 1-year-old daughter in a car in a Northeast Philadelphia Walmart parking lot on a warm summer evening.

Police said a passerby reported a child alone in a car parked in a lot on the 9700 block of Roosevelt Boulevard shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Witnesses in the Walmart lot told CBS3 and ABC6 that girl was in the car for about 45 minutes. The temperature in Philadelphia was about 84 degrees at the time.

Police said the 34-year-old Jasmin Ingram left the child alone while she was in the store. Ingram was taken into custody and has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

The girl was in good condition when police found her, authorities said.

The Department of Human Services has been notified.
