Sen. Bob Menendez (D., N.J.) is lucky No. 12.

Menendez, 61, is the 12th sitting U.S. senator to be indicted, and the second from the state of New Jersey.

Harrison A. Williams of New Jersey was indicted in 1980 after he took a bribe from an FBI agent disguised as a wealthy Arab businessman.

Menendez was indicted Wednesday on federal corruption charges for taking gifts in exchange for helping a friend make business connections, according to federal officials.
