Man stabbed to death on porch of Franklinville home

A man was stabbed to death Saturday afternoon on the front porch of a home in the Franklinville section of North Philadelphia.

Police said the victim, 37, was stabbed once in the chest shortly before 4 p.m. on the 1300 block of West Erie Avenue. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he died minutes later.

The suspect fled on foot, running west on Erie Avenue, then north on Broad Street, according to investigators. He is described as a black male in his late 20s and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

There was no word Saturday evening on what led to the attack, and no arrests had yet been made.
